We are going to build a Facebook page for our store. We're not very well versed in Facebook though. What should and shouldn't we be doing? Is anyone using it to successfully get more customers?

Loads of photos. I have found that people respond really well to photo's, and are more inclined to view your page. Also creating different photo galleries, ie weddings, bouquets to make your photos easier to navigate through, so people looking for wedding flowers can see them easily.

Facebook ads - you can do amazing targeting. For example, we advertise with women/men who are engaged to get more wedding business!

Do not post statements on your page, it is all about the ACTIVITY your page receives (likes on comments, comments, responses back from you etc.). Whenever you post something put it in a question form ex: Instead of saying "It is a beautiful day", write something like this "It is a beautiful day what are YOU doing to enjoy it?" It is all in HOW you post. I have found that I get more response from "cute" things (photos, sayings etc.) than serious posts. Another thing is contests the best ones I have seen working for others is cute photo pics (cutest baby, cutest pet, cutest Halloween costume, best gift received at Christmas etc.) have the people click "like" on the photo, then the pic that gets the most "likes" wins free flowers, a discount etc. The last thing is to get a USERNAME for your page, this is more in depth, but very important in Google searches, it must match your website name as close as possible, do not put the www. or the .com, just the NAME you use on your website. Facebook DOES NOT require you to have 25 "likes" for your page anymore, you can pick a username immediately. Repost another question when you get to this point.
